Ann Northrop is a veteran journalist and activist. She spent many years with ACT UP/New York, leading the weekly meetings, participating in hundreds of demonstrations and getting arrested over and over, most famously for lying in the center aisle of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in the 1989 Stop the Church action. Ann has also covered the epidemic, and the LGBT revolution, as a producer for ABC and CBS, as a columnist for the LGBT press, and, for the last 25 years, as co-host of the weekly TV news show “Gay USA.” Ann has also worked as an educator on homosexuality and HIV/AIDS for the Hetrick-Martin Institute, talking to students in schools all over the metropolitan area. Ann helped organize the Queer Liberation alternate Pride Marches in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
