Treatment Action Group (TAG) Seeks Candidates for Our Board of Directors

TAG is now in our 31st year of working to ensure that all people with HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and/or Hepatitis C (HCV) receive lifesaving treatment, care, and information, and of fighting for those most affected by these infectious diseases.

We are currently seeking new members for our Board of Directors with diverse backgrounds and experiences to guide our continued efforts to advance our vision and mission.

Characteristics we are looking for in new Board members include, but are not limited to:

  • Desire to bring equitable access and science-based solutions to those living with, and at risk for, HIV, TB, and HCV
  • Belief that meaningfully engaging affected communities in the response and in research is critical.
  • Commitment to racial equity, ending systemic oppression, and promoting human rights.
  • Direct or indirect lived experience of HIV, TB, and/or HCV.
  • Expertise in communications, development, epidemiology, finance, human resources, infectious diseases, law, public health, public policy, or technology.
  • Motivation to devote their time, skills, and resources to our independent, activist, and community-based research and policy think tank. TAG remains committed to racial, gender, and LGBTQ+ equity; social justice; and liberation, fighting to end HIV, TB, and HCV.

The primary responsibilities of TAG’s Board include 1) Living and promoting TAG’s vision and mission, incorporating our values and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; 2) overseeing the organization’s strategic initiatives, finances and its Executive Director; and 3) securing resources and fundraising to ensure TAG’s stability, sustainability, and growth.

Board members are expected to participate actively in Board meetings as well as committee assignments; to attend and support fundraising events; to support TAG’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts; and identify and participate in recruiting and on-boarding qualified individuals for TAG’s Board.  Board members devote approximately 5 hours per month to Board activities.

Board members are elected each year by a majority vote of the attending Directors at the Annual Meeting for a one-year term and may be re-elected at subsequent Annual Meetings. In between Annual Meetings, additional individual new Board members may be elected by a majority vote.
