Dear Friend of TAG:
As 2019 comes to a close, we reflect on the victories from the past year—many of which you’ll read about in this edition of TAG Update—and also on the battles ahead.
The upcoming 2020 elections are at the front of our minds here at TAG, as the future health and lives of every person we serve is at stake. In this election cycle, it will be critical to keep at the front of the national, state, and local political and policy debates TAG’s key issues—an end to HIV and its main coinfections of hepatitis C, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted infections—as well as the economic, racial, social, and political inequities and injustices that allow these conditions to thrive. We need voters and candidates at every level, from local to state to national, to hear us and commit to take forward meaningful change to end these syndemics.
Regardless of the election outcomes, TAG’s mission will be critical, and our dedication to achieving it will be steadfast. TAG has monitored and influenced political landscapes since our founding in 1992.* And while we have achieved tremendous advances since then, our fight is far from over. We ask you in 2020, while you’re getting out the vote, to continue to support TAG’s work.
We thank you for your support and look forward to continuing to count on it in 2020 and beyond!
In solidarity,
Mark Harrington
