May 8, 2024 – Treatment Action Group (TAG) is pleased to announce that two new members have been elected to the Board of Directors.
The first is Ama Burnham, who has two decades of experience working in finance in New York City. She began her career in finance as part of JP Morgan Chase’s analyst class on their Corporate Equity Derivatives Sales desk in 2003. From there Ama moved to Société Générale, then did a brief stint in corporate retail at Macy’s. She returned to finance in 2015, and joined Bank of America in 2017, focusing on North American life insurance companies.
“I’m very excited to be a TAG board member,” Ms. Burnham said. “I’m currently taking a break from finance and am focusing on volunteering. I’ve loved TAG’s work for years and am looking forward to doing whatever I can to help the organization and the board. I think we can accomplish a lot together.”
The TAG Board of Directors also elected well-known researcher and pulmonologist Dr. Stefan V. Goldberg. Dr. Goldberg is now retired, but had a long career working in the field of tuberculosis (TB), beginning with the Seattle and King County TB clinic in Washington. He has also been a senior medical officer with the CDC’s National Center for HIV, Viral, Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and Tuberculosis Prevention (NCHHSTP), division of TB Elimination. As a volunteer, Dr. Goldberg is co-director of the “Epidemiology of Tuberculosis,” course given each year at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health.
When asked why he was interested in being on TAG’s board, Stefan said, “Working on the TAG board would give a formal focus to the interests and activities I’m pursuing at this stage in my life … Medicine and public health always have been more service than business for me. Reading TAG’s mission, vision, and values statements, I see that they are part of who I am and how I’ve lived my life. I’m looking forward to being part of the TAG community and board.”
Mark Harrington, TAG’s executive director said, “I’m so pleased that we’re expanding TAG’s board membership, with two such qualified candidates. As a woman, and immigrant, and an experienced financial professional, Ama brings a rich combination of lived experience to the board. Stefan has been working with our TB team over the past two decades. We were all thrilled when he applied to join TAG’s board. Our board is heading into a very exciting new era.”
